Kindness Key to Happiness and Acceptance for Children

Children can sometimes find it difficult to express their emotions. There has been a study that proves children who perform acts of kindness are happier.

"In the study, published December 26 by PLOS ONE, researchers examined how to boost happiness in students aged 9 to 11 years. Four hundred students from Vancouver elementary schools were asked to report on their happiness and to identify which of their classmates they would like to work with on school activities. Half of the students were asked by their teachers to perform acts of kindness -- like sharing their lunch or giving their mom a hug when she felt stressed -- and half were asked to keep..."

Calm cars are the future.

Motor companies and mindfulness don’t seem like they should go together, but Ford wants to do something about that.

Mindfulness is one of Ford’s key trends of 2016.

“To describe something that’s been around for thousands of years as new is questionable, what we’re really calling out is how mindfulness has become very mainstream and is showing up in unexpected places,” Sheryl Connelly, Ford’s in-house futurist, told The Memo.

Yoga May Ease Symptoms For Atrial Fibrillation Patients

Yoga can help people suffering with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation to reduce their blood pressure and can help patients to feel less helpless.

"This was the main finding of a study published in the European Journal of Cardiovascular that compares patients with paroxysmalatrial fibrillation who practiced yoga with patients who did not. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a condition where the heart pumps blood at an irregular and often abnormally fast rate. Why Students At Elite Colleges Are Turning To Meditation

Many students are experiencing increased pressure within their university life. Meditation and yoga work fabulously at relieving symptoms of anxiety and depression.

"Wellness programs are becoming increasingly important as students today face an overwhelming amount of pressure and stress at school. And that takes a toll on mental health. Nearly one in 10 college students report experiencing symptoms of depression, according to 2014 research from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Alarming mental health statistics are why Kishor Nayar, a Ph.D. candidate in mechanical engineering, started MIT’s Art of Living club while pursuing his master’s degree . Citing concern over mental health issues and pointing to the stress and isolation he observed on campus, Nayar believes that meditation should..."
